Travel to Thailand and take part in a cultural exchange that will leave you forever in love with the serene people, wildlife, jewel-like landscapes and perfect beaches that this magical destination has to offer. Teaching English to children in a school will help you integrate with local communities and give you a privileged insight into Thai culture and customs.  In your spare time you can explore the exquisite Thai countryside discovering ancient temples, overgrown ruins, nature reserves and wildlife sanctuaries.
During your placement you will be teaching in Thai schools to help the students broaden their minds and for you to enjoy a fulfilling experience. You can teach English by using real-life scenarios, games and other activities. There is a lot of freedom for you to bring in your own creative ideas and teaching tools into the classroom. The aim is to improve the children’s prospects by teaching them English. On the other hand, you will also gain teaching experience, an invaluable life skill!
Nobody expects you to teach the students to speak English fluently in four weeks – it is more important for the children to develop an interest and a desire to learn English and to have exposure to foreign volunteers and to learn about the world outside of their community.

This program consists of working with students of various schools teaching English. We have strong relationships with several kindergarten, primary and secondary schools and the age of the students may be anywhere between 3 and 18. The schools encourage a non-formal approach to teaching which means that you will not have to conform to the local teaching methods or style and you will be free to choose your own way of teaching and may bring your own ideas into class. It is important to understand that your methods of teaching are less important than your attitude towards the students. Also, the subjects you teach can vary depending on current activities in the schools and might include, for example, environmental issues.

You will leave the accomodation between 0830 and 0930 depending on the school. Expect to teach for 2-3 hours per day, as well as daily lesson planning.
In the afternoon you will have the chance to hit the beach with you colleagues!

Feel free to bring with you anything else you think will help! You are more than welcome to bring teaching materials/resources for your class such as:
•    Interesting board games
•    Books/Comics
•    Musical instruments
•    Worksheets
•    Cultural items of interest

You'll fly into Bangkok International Airport on the weekend preceding your project where you'll either be collected by a friendly project representative or if you prefer you can meet the project coordinator at the Royal Hotel in Bangkok on the Sunday at 1pm.

Our centre is located in the hilly countryside of Prachuap Khiri Khan Province amidst green surroundings. The accommodation consists of luxury tents and spacious rooms.

A vegetarian breakfast and dinner which will be served on site. During the afternoons, you will be in Hua Hin’s centre, where you will have many food options and restaurants to choose from for lunch. Thai food flavours are not only about the spice, as many people believe. Thai food can be slightly salty, sour and/or sweet, so there really is something to suit everyone’s palate.

Together with the breath taking nature of this beautiful place, and the fact that we got to enjoy...

Hua Hin is one of Thailand’s most popular beach destinations and is located only 280 kilometers Southwest of Bangkok. Hua Hin is where the city meets the sea. Scrumptious seafood, lively markets, never-sleeping bars, long beaches and palm tree-decorated landscapes make up this bustling town! Hua Hin, is a lively fisherman-town and popular tourist destination, and it has a lot to offer besides just sunbathing, snorkelling and swimming at its golden beaches. Not only are there plenty of seafood restaurants and other eateries to choose from, but visitors can also enjoy golf, spas, shops, markets (including a popular night market), and Hua Hin’s Vana Nava water park.
Hua Hin is also surrounded by beautiful national parks and you might decide to go slightly further afield to explore the likes of the Pa La-U Waterfall, located 60 km west of Hua Hin in the south side of the Kaeng Krachan National Park. Alternatively, 45 km to the south of Hua Hin is the mystical Phraya Nakhon cave for the more adventurous! You might also consider visiting Khao Tekiab, a mountain at the end of the beach with a temple atop that overlooks the beach.
From trekking in the beautiful mountains of the north to enjoying the glorious beaches in the south and experiencing the hustle and bustle of the metropolis that is Bangkok, Thailand is certainly not a country that lacks variety.

Flights are not included in our project costs. However, Frontier have partnered with an experienced and professional team of travel experts to help our volunteers find the best flight deals for their trips with Frontier. This travel specialist operates in the tailor-made, long haul multi-stop travel market, arranging complex airfares and transfers for independent travellers. They provide expertise, security and a vast product range along with a Travel Butler service which is a single point of contact and support whilst you are overseas.

We recommend that you obtain a quote using the following contact details rather than book online, as our partner will offer you the most competitive fares. To receive your quote or to seek any advice for your flights, please contact Frontier’s dedicated team of travel experts on 0800 082 9994 (or +44 800 082 9994 outside the UK) or email frontier@flightcentre.co.uk .

For fast, efficient and up-to-date visa advice please contact our recommended visa consultancy partner:

Depending on your destination country and your country of origin, you might require a visa. Please see the appropriate country consular website for details or contact our affiliate visa consultancy service. Please note that your visa will usually start on the date that you enter the destination country regardless of when it was issued. Please check with the relevant embassy or high commission. If you are purchasing your visa or paying entry/exit fees in-country you will probably need to pay in US Dollars. If you have any questions please consult the relevant embassy or high commission. Please check the visa information regularly, as changes often happen without warning.

You'll need to buy appropriate travel insurance covering your participation on the project. You won't be able to go without the right travel insurance so double check to avoid disappointment. Please make sure that you're covered for the whole duration of your trip – from the day you leave the UK to the day you return. It's also best to get your travel insurance at the same time as paying the deposit for your project. Depending on your policy, this will cover you for any unexpected cancellations.

Your insurance should include the following:

  • Medical cover, including medical emergencies and medical evacuations (up to USD$3,000,000 / GBP£2,000,000);
  • Personal liability (up to USD$1,500,000 / GBP£1,000,000);
  • Cancellation and curtailment of your trip (up to the value of your project contribution).

If you are going to be scuba diving you should get coverage for scuba diving up to 30m, including hyperbaric therapy treatment (unlimited). You should consider obtaining insurance to cover you for any additional activities which you plan to do during, before, or after your Frontier project. We recommend that you obtain cover for your baggage and personal effects.

Frontier Partner Projects and Frontier group projects are run in partnership with in-country NGOs, small community based organisations, local research institutes, academic organisations and conservation agencies. Project descriptions and information are supplied directly by our partners or field staff and are accurate at time of publishing.

We aim to keep information up to date and accurate, however, the nature of our projects and in particular the fact that they are constantly evolving and developing in response to changing needs means that project activities, travel schedules, tour itineraries and daily timetables can change overnight and without notice.

To apply for this project, or to register your interest, just click on the orange "Apply Now!" button at the top of the menu. Fill out and submit a short application form and then one of our advisers will give you a call back to answer any questions and to progress your application if you wish to continue.

There is no obligation when making an application, and you do not need to pay anything at this point.
