Marine Conservation with Frontier
Marine Conservation Volunteering
Covering more than 70 percent of the earth’s surface and home to the most biodiversity on the planet, the survival and health of the ocean is a critical for maintaining the world’s delicate ecosystem. Not only is the ocean home to a vast array of species and habitats, but it also serves as a major source of food and income for communities all over the world. Illegal fishing practices and overfishing have resulted in damaged reefs and many endangered marine species.
Frontier’s marine conservation projects work to protect irreplaceable marine ecosystems through charting habitats and teaching local communities how to implement sustainable coastal management long-after the project. Volunteers contribute to critical research into the health of the reefs and species populations that then will advise environmental policy and eventually restore and defend marine biodiversity for years to come.
