This project is perfect for anyone looking for a broad and immersive volunteer experience in one of the world’s most enigmatic and challenging of countries. Located to the north of Madagascar’s main island Nosy Be is a true paradise, teeming with fascinating wildlife and surrounded by idyllic beaches and crystal clear waters, if you’re looking for ethical travel then you’re exactly the person who should sign up!

While on the Community Adventure programme I was rotated between the three main social projects, all the time working hand-in-hand with local people for the benefit and advancement of Madagascan youth. The three areas consist of Construction, Teaching and Childcare.

While working with the Construction project you will get the chance to be involved with hands-on infrastructural projects that will help develop the educational infrastructure of Frontier’s partner school, and when you teach up to nearly 800 children each week, you need all the creativity and initiative required to build an interactive and inspiring learning space!

With the Teaching project you will have a unique opportunity to interact with the characters of Nosy Be. You teach to all ages from 5 to 55, and you’ll have the chance to hone your teaching techniques and build strong friendships from the partner primary school, the local Youth Club and the other educational institutions we support.

If you prefer teaching at pre-primary level, or just want to enjoy spending time with some of Nosy Be’s youngest and most energetic learners then you’ll love spending time with the partner school of Les Abeilles. The infectious energy of those 2 to 4 year olds is hard to leave behind!
